Motorola Solutions launches MOTOTRBO™ Ion smart radio with full Android interface, broadband data capabilities and an open application ecosystem.
The global pandemic has driven businesses to shift and adapt operations to meet changing demands and new challenges. For many, this has meant a greater focus on collaboration and productivity, bringing to the forefront the need for simple and reliable voice, video and data communications, as well as applications that make individuals and teams more efficient. Motorola Solutions today announced the launch of a next generation business-ready smart radio with voice, broadband data and multimedia capabilities to connect teams, inform operations and keep businesses running smoothly.
The MOTOTRBO Ion smart radio brings real-time intelligent data to existing business workflows. Its fully open Android application ecosystem allows for seamless integration of the mobile data applications that commercial industries depend on, such as those used for enterprise-grade barcode scanning, as well as team communication platforms used for messaging, meetings and shared content. A 13-megapixel camera and 4-inch, high-resolution touchscreen lets workers attach photos to work tickets, use video chat for remote diagnostics and view detailed images, schematics, diagrams, photos and videos. This simplifies device management and security, allowing businesses to move toward the use of a single device that offers the simplicity and reliability of push-to-talk radio with the additional capabilities of a smartphone, scanner and tablet.
The MOTOTRBO Ion smart radio works on the digital mobile radio (DMR) standard, Wi-Fi, public LTE and private broadband networks. It is built to support searching, tracking, ticketing, scanning and collaboration to boost productivity, especially within industries such as manufacturing, transportation, logistics and hospitality that rely on mobile workers. It enables airport workers to coordinate the safe and timely flow of passenger services, truck drivers to receive vital route information via digital job tickets and security personnel to stream high-definition video from across stadiums or theme parks.
The MOTOTRBO Ion smart radio is purpose-built for a variety of enterprise environments. The dual microphones, speaker size and audio engineering provide crystal clarity and noise suppression for powerful audio that outperforms smartphones, especially in loud environments. With an ultra-rugged design, it stands up to harsh conditions and exposure to dust, water and repeated drops. It features cloud-based programming and provisioning, remote updating and real-time device monitoring, allowing businesses to deploy and maintain their radio fleets with minimal touch and downtime.
Motorola Solutions has created the first and only end-to-end enterprise technology ecosystem that unifies voice, video, data and analytics on a single platform — providing you with the foundation of safety you need by addressing the unique challenges of your airport, hospital, school, and stadium. They have also reimagined how the technologies used to help keep them safe, can do even more — drive efficiencies, improve productivity and generate better outcomes. Because safety, efficiency and productivity are deeply interconnected. With the right technologies, you can be faster, smarter, more focused and more resilient — better at everything you do.
Because when technologies communicate and learn from each other, safety and performance improve across your entire enterprise. Intelligence advances outwards, giving you eyes and ears where you’ve never had them before. Information flows where it’s needed — from cameras, to radios, to smart devices, to command centers — and what you need to know is made clear. People collaborate in more personalized and productive ways, using any network or device they want. Fairness and accuracy replace biases and blindspots. Resiliency increases and decisions improve.

How many times has someone said, “if they could only see what I see” when trying to convey verbally to another person what’s going on around them? That’s because using words to paint a mental image of what’s happening at that moment can be a frustrating and time consuming experience.
Whether someone is a shopping mall security guard watching a food fight grow, an HVAC technician experiencing problems with a new install procedure or an EMT dealing with a critical patient, the ability to stream video in real time is the key to increasing the speed and clarity of their communications.
Compliant with the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Mission Critical Video (MCVideo) standard, WAVE PTX Streaming Video makes it possible for users to push live video to individuals, groups, or dispatchers. The result is increased situational awareness for dispatchers, supervisors, and other recipients because they have a real-time view of events and activities as they happen.

This "Best Practices Guide" describes the general procedures for cleaning and disinfecting two-way radios, wireless devices, body-worn cameras and accessories based on current and best understanding of radio hygiene. Per global health authorities, removing germs, dirt and impurities from surfaces lowers the risk of spreading infection. Using chemical disinfectants may kill germs that remain on surfaces after cleaning, which further lowers the risk of spreading infection.

The Avigilon Radio Alert solution combines Video Management Software and Two-Way Radio solutions to allow users to receive and acknowledge ACC™ alarms from their MOTOTRBO radio system. Any ACC alarm can be generated as an alert on the MOTOTRBO radio, including alerts related to video analytic events, license plate recognition matches, or access control events. Alerts are dispatched directly to radios via text message and/or text-to-voice alerts, from which security operators can directly acknowledge the alarm. This allows security personnel to be notified through their MOTOTRBO radios so that when analytics events or access control events occur, they can investigate without needing a computer in front of them.

With the introduction of new mobile automated license plate recognition capabilities, Motorola Solutions’ WatchGuard 4RE® in-car video system now provides real-time intelligence to law enforcement.
The solution also can help prevent crimes before they occur. According to the International Association of Chiefs of Police, 97% of car thieves are charged with additional crimes, often while using the stolen vehicle. Using the new ALPR capabilities to identify a stolen car can help stop these “additional crimes” before they happen.
