With Furuno's exlcusive Target Analyzer, targets that are approaching your vessel automatically change color to help you identify when they are hazardous. Green echoes are targets that stay stationary, or are moving away from you, while red echoes are hazardous targets that are moving towards your vessel. Echoes dynamically change colors as targets approach or get farther away from your vessel. Target Analyzer improves situational awareness and can increase safety by showing you which targets to look out for.
With Doppler technology, any vessel approaching yours will automatically display a target vector as well as sound an alarm. Select any target, and it only takes a few seconds to display a speed and course vector. With accurate tracking information, estimation of other vessel's course and speed is greatly simplified. Up to 100 targets can be displayed simultaneously.
Beamwidth
Beamwidth is the angular width, horizontal or vertical, of the path taken by the Radar pulse. Horizontal beamwidth ranges from 0.75 to 5 degrees, and vertical beamwidth from 20 to 25 degrees.
Range Resolution
Different than display resolution, which is a measure of the pixels in an LCD display, Radar resolution describes the Radar’s ability to distinctly display two Radar targets which are close to each other. Radar has two types of resolution: Range, and Bearing. Range Resolution is a measure of the capability of the Radar to display as separate pips the echoes received from two targets that are on the same bearing and are close together. The main factor that affects range resolution is pulselength. A short pulselength gives better range resolution than a long pulselength.
Radar Resolution
Bearing Resolution is a measure of the capability of the Radar to display as separate targets the echoes received from two targets that are at the same range and close together. The principal factor affecting bearing resolution is horizontal beamwidth. The narrower the horizontal beamwidth, the better the bearing resolution.
Measuring Range
The range from own ship to target can be measured in three ways: by Range Rings, by Cursor, and by the Variable Range Marker (VRM).
The RINGS key shows/hides the range rings and adjusts their brilliance. To measure range by the range rings, count the number of rings between the center of the display and the echo. Check the range ring interval at the top of the display and judge the distance of the echo from the inner edge of the nearest ring.
The cursor provides a more accurate measurement of range to targets. Set the cursor intersection on the inner edge of the target. The range from own ship to target appears on the display. The VRM, like the cursor, provides a more accurate measurement of the range to targets. Display a VRM and adjust it so that it rests on the inner edge of the target. The range to target appears on the VRM readout.
Measuring Bearing
The relative bearing from own ship to targets can be measured by the cursor and by the EBL (Electronics Bearing Line). To measure bearing by cursor, set the cursor intersection on the center of the echo. The bearing from own ship to target appears on the display. To measure bearing by EBL, display an EBL and adjust it so that it bisects the target.
The bearing to the target appears on the EBL readout. Bearing relative to heading is relative bearing, while bearing relative to North is true bearing. With a Gyro or Satellite Compass connection, you can display true bearing. Without a compass connection, you can determine true bearing by simply adding relative bearing to your compass reading: if the sum is over 360 degrees, subtract 360 from the number.

The available slim LED TFT screen produces a clear and contrast-strong image both day and night, and can be dimmed down to almost zero if necessary. Thanks to the unique optional PC mouse operation, the FR19x8VBB River Radar is incredibly easy to use.
Designed for inland waterways
The Portrait orientation of this River Radar allows you to see more detail ahead and behind the vessel, where it counts. Operation of the Radar is simplified, and all settings are menu-driven and easy to update. Working with the FR19x8VBB is a whole new experience thanks to the unique operation with just a mouse or touchpad. A compact processor and control unit enables a simple installation, and the logical controller and optional mouse connection allows for comfortable and intuitive operation. Dual Radar combination is possible, allowing for the display of two River Radar systems on one screen, and up to four Antennas and Processors can be networked together for a complete view of the situation around the vessel. The FR19x8VBB processor allows for storage of up to 24 hours of Radar images on SD memory card. Docking mode is available, and the Radar can display up to 300 AIS targets, 2 EBL’s and 2 VRM’s.
Crystal clear target presentation and automatic clutter rejection
The new 1835/1935/1945 Radar Series features a high contrast 10.4" color LCD radar designed for a wide range of vessels including pleasure craft, fishing boats and work boats. This new radar offers crystal clear target presentation with automatic Gain/Sea/Rain controls to deliver noise-free radar presentation. It features superb detection of even small targets both at short and long range. It also boasts all-new display modes which will assist you with navigating safely on all waters. The Radar allows you to see far away objects before they are visible, and allows you to see in the dark, fog or during periods of obstructed visibility in any weather condition.
Easily track up to 100 AIS targets and 10 ARPA target
With the optional ARP11 internal ARPA PCB, up to 10 ARPA targets can be tracked and overlaid on the radar screen to assist the operator in monitoring other vessel movements. With the connection of an external AIS receiver, up to 100 AIS may also be tracked. A variety of navigational information such as vessel name, speed, ROT, draft, and the destination of the selected targets can be included in real time. Unlike ARPA targets, AIS targets are visible on-screen even if they are obscured by large ships or islands, since AIS works by VHF transceiver system and does not require line-of-sight. Both ARPA and AIS require heading input. With a push of the “OFF CENTER” button, own ship position can be shifted to a pre-registered point on the screen, allowing the operator to focus on a specific area ahead of or around the vessel without losing track of the position
Enhanced short-range target discrimination
With its advanced signal processing technology, the Radar demonstrates a substantial increase in target detection, particularly for close range targets. The unit can be interconnected with other navigation equipment such as chart plotters and sounders through Furuno's programmable NMEA 0183 interface system, affording operators the ability to expand their boat's system as needed.
New, useful modes of operation including Full Screen Mode
In Full Screen mode, the entire display is filled with the echo image. Full-screen echo presentation capability allows the operator to observe a wider overview of the surrounding area. You can even toggle on and off the on-screen navigation data to display only the Radar image.

A variety of antenna options
For X-band models, a variety of antenna is selectable from; 4, 6.5, 8 foot radiator, and antenna rotation speed is selectable from 24 rpm for standard radars or 42 rpm for HSC. The S-band radar FAR2137S is also available with the antenna radiator 10 or 12 feet. The S-band radar assures target detection in adverse weather where X-band radar are heavily affected by sea or rain clutter. When pedestal mounting the standard FAR21x7 display unit MU190, the FAR2XX7PED requires use of the optional display mounting kit FAR-190-BKT, which includes the 008-535-560 bracket and 001-139-360 mounting assembly. Please note that the FAR-190-BKT kit is NOT supplied with the MU190 when the monitor is purchased as an individual component. When retrofitting for an older FAR21x7 monitor installation with an existing 008-535-560 bracket, the use of the 001-139-360 mounting assembly only is required.
